In conjunction with the study of Native American history and culture in Fourth Grade Social Studies, Native Legends is assigned as part of the Fourth Grade Language Arts curriculum. This collection contains 14 ancient Native American tales, retold and written especially for fourth grade readers. Children will delight to such mythical characters as Iktomi the Spider Fairy, Manstin the Rabbit, and Iya the Camp Eater. As your student researches and studies local Native American groups, these tales will illuminate the unique cultural heritage of Native Americans while reflecting the deep common themes that all ancient myths and legends share. Native Legends is included in the Oak Meadow Fourth Grade curriculum package.
