In Fifth Grade Science, students engage in investigations and experiments that cultivate essential scientific skills such as forming a hypothesis, conducting observations, and taking field notes. The lessons emphasize the scientific method, conservation ecology, meteorology, anatomy, and astronomy, and lay the groundwork for more extensive scientific studies in the upper grades.
Assignment checklists in each lesson help students see at a glance what has already been completed and what still needs to be done. Comprehensive learning assessments are included at the end of each lesson to help parents document student progress, identify strengths and areas where more support is needed, and track learning over time. Materials lists are in each lesson, and a cumulative materials list is included in the appendix.
