Oak Meadow’s web-based online courses for grades 5-8 combine the dynamic interactivity of the web, online and offline assignments, and regular tests to enable students to learn each subject easily and enjoyably. Courses include a complete explanation of the subject, full-color photos and graphics, plus numerous links to web sites that expand upon the subject. In addition, each course includes a complete teacher’s manual (available only to the parent or teacher) that contains all the answers to the assignments and additional information about the topics in each lesson. Each course includes a full school year of instruction (36 lessons) and access is granted for 12 months. English: Provides a solid foundation in spelling, vocabulary, grammar, literature, and composition, while introducing strategies for enhancing comprehension and organizational study skills.
Math: Students learn about two- and three-digit multiplication and division, fractions, word problems, measurement, bar graphs, and line graphs. Clear directions and consistent review and evaluations help to reinforce key concepts.
Science: Explores the basic principles of earth science (with an emphasis on the environment), life science, and physical science.
U.S. History: Provides a rich experience in American history through the Civil War by combining geography with the literature, arts, and crafts of the times to create an integrated experience that helps children learn easily.
